Stadin Ankkuri Cohousing Project

Stadin Ankkuri is a cohousing project in the Kalasatama area. The 7-storey building will be located in the new neighbourhood by the sea. The building consists of 28 apartments of different sizes, as well as large furnished common spaces meant for community life.

The project is initiated by the Stadiin Association and will be developed by its future resident-proprietors with the help of professional cohousing consultants.

In the cohousing model a group of private citizens organize themselves to develop a building that meets their individual and common needs. The project is based on carefully drafted agreements as well as legislation. The apartments are privately owned and financed and are meant for people who intend to move in themselves – not for investors. The group makes all the major decisions concerning the project and is ultimately responsible of it. Individual apartment-owners will be able to tailor their apartments according to their needs and tastes, within certain limits. The apartments will not be sold and bought – they will be co-developed.

As soon as all the apartments have been reserved, the future residents will establish a housing company ltd. (Finnish asunto-osakeyhtiö), where they are shareholders. The housing company will then engage a construction company to build the house.
